Poodles in Podcasts
Pure Dog Talk podcast is phenomenal source of information regarding topics related to purebred dogs.
I’ve linked the poodle-specific episodes below but seriously, go check out the others, too!
Jaci Bowman, owner, trainer and handler of hunting Poodles, joins host Laura Reeves to talk about retrieving, upland bird hunting and the history of poodle participation in hunt tests.
Miniature Poodle breeder Brian Cordova visits with host Laura Reeves about all things “poodly,” PCA (hint, Christmas in April!) and meeting “god.”
“Breeding is Like a Recipe, You Need All the Ingredients On Hand” So says Joseph Vergnetti, master breeder at Dassin Poodles. Vergnetti talks presentation, line-breeding and outcrosses, and the differences in the varieties.
Professional handler Christian Manelopoulos joins host Laura Reeves for part one of a wide-ranging conversation about professional handling, working as an apprentice, the toughest dogs to trim and the challenges of moving to America to begin his career.
Christian Manelopoulos is back with host Laura Reeves for more Pure Dog Talk on Poodles, Professional Handlers and the sport’s Public Image.
The Conformation Conversation is a dog podcast with, yes, a focus on conformation as a sport and the involved professionals
Kay Peiser of Kaylen's Chinese Cresteds, Standard Poodles and Boxers- breeder of the famous Standard Poodle ‘Caddy’ Kaylen's Cadillac Style
Will Alexander interviews dog professionals- great for a drive.
I am still catching up on older episodes and adding poodle related ones as I get to them.
Not enough space for Kaz Hosaka’s accolades- please see this tribute from Purina Pro Club
Poodles in Print
From Library Journal
Dahl, a longtime breeder and exhibitor of poodles and a former editor of Poodle Review, has compiled a guide for the novice owner to selecting, grooming, exhibiting, and breeding all three poodle varieties (standard, miniature, and toy). While he does provide a very informative chapter on how to buy a puppy, which would be useful for any purebred puppy buyer, the bulk of Dahl's book is geared toward the serious aspiring breeder and exhibitor. Dahl discusses the breed's standard of perfection and the elusive qualities of breed "type." He also provides detailed illustrated guides for the major show and convenience grooming styles and for maintaining coat. His recommendations on how to develop a breeding and showing kennel and his comprehensive advice on the complexities of breeding, raising, training, and exhibiting poodles should help many new to the sport get off on the right foot. A sound contribution to the literature on a deservedly popular breed; for public libraries.

Trace poodle lineage back to the core kennels with this older book
The current breed magazine offer both print and digital editions. I like picking up older issues of Poodle Variety and Poodle Review on eBay for breed history and photos of past dogs.
