Though Standard Poodles are the focal point of my passion, my interest in dogs started with my family's husky and my rescue/shelter dogs (husky mixes). My family’s husky was a Craigslist find and between her and my mixed-breeds, they served as the beginning of many lessons on the importance of responsible breeding decisions and proactive puppy-raising protocols- both things they lacked at no fault of their own.

As young dogs, my mixed-breed rescue dogs required lots of training and activity. They struggled with reactivity and other common behavior issues and I struggled along with them. It led me to the Dayton Dog Training Club where I started taking classes in 2017. I became a member in 2021 and assisted with some of those same classes. The experience brought out a passion for cultivating closer relationships between people and their pets.

In 2018 I brought home Basil as an 11 week old puppy. It's fair to say I jumped in with both feet. I figured since I was on top of my other dogs’ bathing schedules, what's the harm in the addition of a clipper and some shears? The answer is- a lot. I am forever grateful to my groomer friends who taught me the basics. (This website features some of their photography work!)

When Basil and I played show dog in UKC, I was immediately hooked! While on the hunt to further my poodle showing experience to the AKC ring, I met the breeder, Christi Gable, of my foundation bitch, Irene, at a poodle specialty in Toledo. She has been a major guiding force ever since. I can't downplay my appreciation for the patience of those who taught me and continue to teach me.

My goal is to exhibit excellent examples of the breed: That means breeding proven, fully health-tested AKC registered parents while applying Puppy Culture with AviDog puppy-raising protocols along with Puppy Chronicles handling and restraint work.

My puppies are introduced to potty training, crate training, and handling desensitization, other useful life skills. This translates into well-adjusted puppies ready for a future with their new people.
